USDF National Horse of the Year ("HOY") --
Friesian Sporthorses 2007-2018
Each year USDF ranks all eligible dressage horses in the nation at each level, based on their
year-end median scores. The Top 20 are awarded Horse of the Year honors each year.
Horses are not segregated by breed or any other criteria, making this USDF's toughest award
and the most prestigious national year-end award a horse/rider can earn. The Friesian
Sporthorse gained recognition as a breed in 2007. Since then Friesian Sporthorses have had
some impressive HOY results, despite being vastly outnumbered by larger breed registries
(primarily Warmbloods.)
